Swiatek to face Potapova in French Open fourth round
Top seed Swiatek looking to continue title defense
Top seed Iga Swiatek will face Anastasia Potapova in the fourth round of the 2024 French Open on Sunday, June 2. Swiatek opened her title defense with a straight-sets win over Danka Kovinić, while Potapova upset 15th seed Victoria Azarenka in three sets.
Both players have lost a set in the tournament so far
Swiatek lost the first set of her second-round match against Bianca Andreescu, but she rallied to win in three sets. Potapova also lost a set in her second-round match, against Tereza Martincova.
Potapova entered this week ranked a career-best No. 44 in the world. She has had a strong start to the season, reaching the semifinals of the Lyon Open and the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.
Swiatek is the heavy favorite to win the match, but Potapova has shown that she is a dangerous opponent. She is a big hitter with a powerful serve, and she has the potential to cause an upset.
The match between Swiatek and Potapova will be played on Court Philippe Chatrier, the main court at Roland Garros. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM CET.
